QUESTIONS ASKED AND DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

When a death occurs, we are obligated to ask you certain questions for our files. First, the name and location of the deceased, citizenship and date of birth, social insurance and health insurance numbers, name of spouse and relatives.

We will be able to verify whether the deceased has a prearrangement. It would be helpful if you can tell us whether the family or the deceased already has a cemetery plot reserved.

It is important to provide a good quality photo for the death notice in the newspapers, on our website and for any commemorative items that you may wish to have, such as bookmarks, thank you cards and personalised candles. You can also send us the photo by e-mail.

Finally, at this time you may also bring us the personal effects, such as clothing, dentures, glasses and jewellery to be worn by the deceased.

IF DEATH IS DECLARED AT A HOSPITAL OR IN AN INSTITUTION

We advise you to call us first, before coming to one of our funeral homes. This way, we can make sure that one of our funeral directors is able to meet with you and give you all the attention you deserve. Should you be unable to come to us for any reason, we will naturally arrange a visit to your home.

IF DEATH OCCURS IN A PRIVATE HOME

At Frenette Funeral Centre, we know that death can occur at any time. Should this happen in a private home, once the death is officially declared, call us immediatly, and we will quickly handle the transfer of the deceased to our facilities. Otherwise, you must first call 911 and follow the procedure as given.
