Ronald Bourque, 82, of Shediac Bridge, passed away on Tuesday March 17, 2026 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Dismas and Évéline (Gallant) Bourque.

Prior to his retirement, Ronald had a distinguished career at the Université de Moncton as a professor and department director. He also dedicated a large part of his life to international development, which led him to live in several countries in Africa and Asia.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Katharine (Toner) Bourque; one son, Michel Bourque (Caroline Routhier); three grandchildren: Julien, Léanne and Etienne; four brothers: Raymond, Henri (Judy), David and Denis; as well as his nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one son, Daniel.

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (506-858-1900) where the funeral service will be celebrated on Friday March 27 at 11 am. Visiting hours are Friday from 9:30 am until time of funeral. In memory of Ronald, a contribution to the Bourse Daniel R. Bourque of the Université de Moncton would be appreciated.
