Joanne Cook, 70, passed away peacefully, on January 9, 2026, at home in Grand-Barachois, NB.  Born in Montreal (QC), she was the daughter of the late Grégoire and Phyllis (Norrish) Calfat.

She worked many years for the Government of Canada – DSS.

Joanne will be lovingly missed by her husband of 39 years, Dwight Cook; her three daughters: Angela Walker (Miles) of Edmonton (AB), Heidi Belliveau (Michel) of Memramcook East (NB), and Jennifer Cook (Patrick Legacy) of Dieppe (NB); six grandchildren: Ellie, Aliyah, Marissa, Melodie, Nicholas, and Jacob; four sisters: Diane Calfat of Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Montreal (QC), Anne Calfat (Ronnie DiGennaro) of Montreal (QC), Suzanne Calfat (Bruno Beauchamp) of Saint-Lazare (QC), and Francine Calfat (Martin Tremblay) of Laval (QC); four brothers: Paul Calfat (Colleen) of Edmonton (AB), Richard Calfat (Ava) of Edmonton (AB), Nelson Calfat of Montreal (QC), and Brian Calfat of Montreal (QC).

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters: Louise and Claire.

The family wish to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Oncology Department of the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC, to Dr. A Savoie, and also to the NB Extra-Mural Program of Shediac.

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral Centre, 396 Main Street, Shediac (506-532-3297), on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., and from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.  A small service will follow on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, after the visitations, at 8:00 p.m., at Frenette Funeral Centre, Shediac.
