Rene Abel LeBlanc of Moncton, NB, passed away peacefully on
Friday December 19th, 2025, just 2 days shy of his 97th birthday. Born
and raised in Shediac, he was the son of the late Albert and Eugenie
(Hébert) LeBlanc.
During World War II, he joined the army reserve, training in
Trenton Ontario and Scoudouc NB, but was fortunate that the war ended
prior to him seeing active service. He then embarked on a lengthy
career as an electrician, eventually becoming the proud owner of
Scott’s Electric on St. George St., which at the time was
the ‘Go To’ shop for small appliance repair as
well as general service for residential and commercial customers. He
was also very well known for his work within the Moncton area school
district for many years.
In retirement, he enjoyed many summers at Poirier Beach on
the Cocagne River, and was a life-long fan of the Toronto Maple
Leafs.
He is survived by his four children: Paul LeBlanc (Karen) of
New Maryland; Brian LeBlanc (Kay) of Riverview, Charlene LeBlanc and
Lisa Williams both New Maryland; seven grandchildren: Darci Reece
(Stu), Derek LeBlanc (Courtney), Corey LeBlanc, Heather Johnson
(Scott), Tim LeBlanc (Kristy), David Williams (Sarah), and Daniel
Williams (Jennifer); nine great-grandchildren: Jenson and Lennon
Reece, Margot and Regan LeBlanc, Kaylyn LeBlanc, Thomas and Matthew
Williams, Andrew and Allison Williams.
In addition to his parents, Rene was predeceased by his wife,
Joan Elizabeth (Betty), in 1990; sisters: Rita and Alice; brothers:
Edward, Eric, Eloi, Emery and Roger LeBlanc, and special friends:
Geneva Hannah and Ruby Tower.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to
the dedicated staff of the Villa du Repos for the care he received
during the last few years of his life.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and
Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (506-858-1900) from where
the funeral will be celebrated on Saturday December 27 at 11 am.
Visiting hours are Saturday from 10 am until time of funeral.
Interment will be at Our Lady of Calvary cemetery in Dieppe. In memory
of Rene, a contribution to the Friends of The Moncton Hospital or to a
charity of the donor’s choice would be
appreciated.
