It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gerald J Blanchard on September 2, 2025 at Faubourg du Mascaret, Moncton.

Born in Moncton Gerald (aka) Gerry was the son of the late Antonio and Derilda Blanchard (née Blanchard). He is survived by his beloved wife, Janine (née Malenfant); his loving sons Christian and Pierre; and his cherished grandchildren, Dylan, Zachary and Lukael.

He was predeceased by his older sister Yolande.

A proud graduate of Université de Moncton, Gerry devoted his professional life in various executive positions as Director of Human Resources at the Dr George L Dumont Hospital, Labour Canada and as Executive Director at the federal government of Canada.

Over his lifetime, Gerry generously gave his time to many causes serving in various volunteer capacities as President and member of various institutions.
Gerry had a passion for travelling with Janine and his family, enjoyed activities such as cottage life, reading, tennis, golf and daily walks. He enjoyed and had a special bond with Janine’s side of the Malenfant family.

He was known for his quick wit and sense of humour, always bringing joy and laughter to those around him, especially with his "one liners". Above all, Gerry was a caring and generous person who touched the lives of many.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at Faubourg du Mascaret and the Dr G L Dumont Hospital for their compassionate care and support, and to family and friends for their unwavering support during this difficult time.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025 at 2pm at Frenette Funeral Centre, 396 Main Street, Shediac (506-532-3297).

In Gerald’s memory, a donation can be made to the charity of the donors choice.
