Albéo Cormier, 90, of Moncton, passed away peacefully on Monday April 1, 2024 at the Pavillon Richard of Faubourg du Mascaret. Born in Saint-Paul, he was the son of the late Albénie and Rosée (Cormier) Cormier.

Albéo, known as "Al," was always there to give a helping hand. He was a hard worker all his life starting at a very young age.  While living in the United States he served in the US Air Force as an airplane technician. Throughout his life he worked at various jobs and was also an entrepreneur. Flying was his passion and he became a private licensed pilot.  Al was also an avid guitar player, and enjoyed ballroom dancing and golf.  His life was centered around work, music and travel, but he mostly enjoyed the time spent with his family and friends.

Al will be sadly missed by his daughter Sharon Bastarache (Larry Leaman) of Dieppe; his son, Richard (Ivania) of Elizabeth, NJ; his beloved grandchildren: Natalie (Marc Gautreau) and Marc Bastarache (Tracy), Oriana, Danielle and Ela; his great-grandchildren: Tristan, Maelle, Sadie, Jake and Chloé; one brother Armand of Dieppe; special friend Elizabeth "Betty" Carpenter of Moncton; two sisters-in-law: Rita Falkowski (Stanley) of Garfield, NJ and Phyllis Roy of Dieppe; two brothers-in-law: Yvon Roy (Barbara) of Sainte-Marie-de Kent and Hector-Eddy Richard of Moncton; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Gérène Roy (2001); his sisters: Dorraine Lizotte, Corinne Jerome, Lillianne Cormier and infant Marie; his brothers: Théodule, Stanley, Hervé, Donald, Leo, and Aris.

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (506-858-1900) from where the funeral service will be celebrated on Tuesday April 9 at 11 am. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 10 am until time of funeral. Interment will be in Sainte-Marie-de-Kent parish cemetery. In Al’s memory, a contribution to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or donor’s choice would be appreciated.
