It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Prof. Dr. J. R. Jocelyn Paré, MSM, that occurred at The Moncton Hospital on January 31, 2022. Aged 62, Dr. Paré was a native of Mont-Laurier and was the son of the late Robert Paré.

He is survived by his sweet mother Yolande Lachaîne, his brother Yves (Christianne Carrière), his sister Carole (Jim Payne), his nephew and godson Geoffrey Payne (Shannon McMahon), his little nephew Nate, his little niece Evie, his accomplice of always Jacqueline M. R. Bélanger, as well as many uncles, aunts, cousins, friends and colleagues.

Endowed with an exceptional talent, Jocelyn had the sacred fire for research and lived only for science. He carried out innovative research, had the concern and scientific rigor and obtained multiple prizes and recognitions at the national and international levels. Nicknamed "The Father of Microwaves", he had a brilliant career in this field, using microwave energy for applications in the food industry, the environment and medical research, among others.

Jocelyn was appreciated for his dedication to others, he loved teaching and training young people in new technologies. Recognized for having an excellent talent as a communicator, he knew how to convey the various scientific concepts. He never hesitated to give his time for research, to help a colleague or anyone who needed his advice. He was esteemed for the gift of himself, his hard work, his human values, his honesty, and his integrity. He was incredibly generous, a man with a big heart, he liked to please, give and support, in addition to having an excellent sense of humor. He was passionate about travel, BMW cars and electronic "gadgets"! He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) where a celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday February 8 at 2 pm.
