Irène Doucet, 88, of Spencer’s and formerly of Churchill St., Moncton, passed away on Monday, August 2, 2010 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital. Born November 9, 1921 in Sainte-Marie, NB, she was the daughter of the late Anselme and Odile (LeBlanc) Bastarache.

She will be sadly missed by her six daughters: Eva (Omer) Melanson, Stella (Bill) Lewis, Jeannine (Gérald) Poirier, Nelida (Neri) Deveau, Rose (Edouard Gaudet) Doucet and Shirley Doucet, all of Moncton; five sons: Bill Jr. (Marie-Paule), Paul, Edgar, Alcide and Pierre (Linda); 22 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

The last surviving member of her immediate family, she is predeceased by her husband, William Doucet (2001), an infant son, Roger (1963), three grandchildren, Michelle, Nathalie and Stella, and by several brothers and sisters.

The family will receive condolences at Frenette’s Funeral Home, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900). Visiting hours Tuesday August 3 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m., and Wednesday August 4 from 10 a.m. until departure to Notre-Dame-de-Grâce R.C. Church (Parkton) from where the funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe.

In memory of Irène, a contribution to the Alzheimer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick would be appreciated.
