Richard "Butch" Gallant, 63, of Avard Lane, Shediac passed away accidentally on Tuesday, August 28, 2007.

Born June 27, 1944, in Shediac, he was the son of the late Ernest and Florence (Smiley) Gallant. He was employed with the New Brunswick Department of Transportation for over 20 years. Butch was an accomplished musician, playing drums with several local bands, including Flashback, Gunsmoke and with some of the members of the old Bunkhouse Boys. He also entertained every Saturday night for 15 years with a band called the Carousel at the Rainbow Club in Grand-Barachois. He was also a long distance runner, and a volunteer at the Villa Providence.

He is survived three sisters: Linda Bowden (Charlie) of Shediac, Marceline Boyce (late Jack) of North Bay, ON, Beatrice Landry (Alphée) of Dupuis Corner; nine brothers: George (Léontine) of Dupuis Corner, Gordon, Leslie (Hélène), Donald, and Gary "Ko-Ko" all of Shediac, Alex of Michigan, Rodrigue and Arthur both of Fort Erie, ON, Rodney (Peggy) of North Bay, ON; and by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers: Leslie and Allan Gallant and by two sisters: Elsie Gallant and Juliette Cormier.

Visitation at Frenette Funeral Home Ltd., 396 Main St., Shediac (532-3297) on Friday, from 2 to 4p.m. and 7 to 9p.m. and Saturday, from 9a.m. until time of departure (10:20a.m.).Funeral mass will be held at 10:30a.m. on Saturday, September 1, 2007 at Saint-Joseph R.C. Church, Shediac .Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
