One of the hardest days for our family was the day we had to
say goodbye to Brian. He passed away peacefully at the Hospice SENB
Albert House on October 4, 2026 with his family by his side after a
brief illness.
Brian loved anything to do with helping others. He could do
your plumbing, electrical or build whatever you needed. You name it,
he could do it. If he didn’t have the tool, he bought it and
made sure he measured five times to make sure the job was perfect. In
his younger days, he loved fishing and hunting with his friends. He
loved spending time at the cottage with the love of his life, Cathy.
They met when they both worked at DSS in Shediac. They were together
for over 20 years and shared so much love and happiness together.
Their true love showed what an amazing man Brian was, as he cared for
Cathy as she battled cancer for five years.
Brian was a kind, caring and dear person to everyone that
knew him.
The joy of his life was watching his niece Erin and his
nephews Shea and Kyle play sports and spending time with them. He was
so happy when his great-nephews, Skyler, Eli, Saxon and great-niece
Salem came along. He enjoyed every moment he could with
them.
He absolutely loved going to watch his grandsons play hockey
and baseball. He always made it a point to have treats in his pocket
to give to them. He truly loved Finn and Theo and they brought a new
kind of love into his life.
Brian was predeceased by his parents, Philip and Kathleen
Rafferty, and his partner, Cathy Carter.
He is survived by his son Ryan Chapman (Stephanie) and his
grandchildren Finn and Theo; his brother Shawn (Andrea) and his
sisters, Luanne and Stacy (Jason Myles); his niece Erin (Steve) and
their children, Skyler, Saxon and Salem; his nephews, Shea, Kyle
(Chloe) and their son Eli. Brian will be missed by his extended family
and many friends especially his special cousin Doreen Adams, Jeff and
Sue Carter as well as Sandy and Shelley (Ted), and his best friends,
Jeff and Karen Trites.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no visitation at
the funeral home and no service. Interment will be at Our Lady of
Calvary Cemetery in Dieppe. In memory of Brian a donation to the
Hospice SENB Albert House or Friends of The Moncton Hospital
Foundation (Oncology) would be appreciated by the family. Funeral
arrangements are being managed by Frenette Funeral and Cremation
Centre in Moncton (506-858-1900).
