It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Edward (Ted) Melanson, 68, of Moncton, on September 27, 2026 at Albert House of Hospice SENB.

Ted will be remembered for his sense of humour, his laughter and his hard work. But perhaps most of all, he will be remembered for the kind of man he was.

Ted spent 30 years working at Ben’s Bakery, which later became Canada Bread, before his retirement. He worked hard throughout his life to give his family every opportunity available and took great pride in providing for the people he loved.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Susan (Landry) Melanson; his sons, Michael (Natasha) and Christopher (Shauna) Melanson; and his beloved grandchildren, Mason and Sophie. His family was an enormous part of his life, and being a husband, father and grandfather meant the world to him. Ted was also surrounded by a large family and many friends. He loved his brothers and sisters, and many nieces and nephews.

The youngest son of the late Gerald and Betty Melanson, Ted leaves behind his siblings: Betty-Lou Albert, Loretta Devona (late Chuck), Tommy Melanson (Jenny), Gordie Melanson and Nancy Magnussen (late Phil). He was predeceased by his siblings: Patsy (Tubby), Gary (Marie), Garth and Stephen Melanson.

His absence leaves an enormous void in the lives of those who loved him, but there is also an enormous amount of Ted left behind — in his family, in the stories that will continue to be told about him, in the laughter those stories will bring, and in the memories held by everyone fortunate enough to have known him.

In keeping with Ted’s wishes, there will be no funeral service or visitation.

Those wishing to honour his memory may make a donation in his name to Albert House Hospice Centre in Moncton, New Brunswick, in appreciation of the kindness and compassion shown to Ted and his family during his final days.

Ted was deeply loved, and he will be deeply missed.

Funeral arrangements are in the professional care of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, Moncton (506-858-1900).

Words of comfort and donations may be done at www.frenettefuneralhome.com.
