It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, which occurred on Thursday, September 24, at her residence, O’Bons Soins, in Shediac, NB. Mary Elizabeth Genevieve (Jennie) Browne was born in 1925 in Glace Bay, NS. She was the daughter of the late Martino and Mary Catherine (McMullin) Marangoni.
Mom will be greatly missed by her two sons: Donald (Monique) of Shediac and Joel (Bernice) of St-André-LeBlanc; as well as her four daughters: Denise Gautreau (Jean) of Grand-Barachois, Virginia Soucy (Pierre) of Shediac, Adele (Stace) of Calgary, AB, and Anita Lahey (Iain MacGowan) of Aylesford, NS.
Mom will also be missed by her cherished grandchildren: Richard, David, Serge, Lynne, Jessica, Jaime, Jasmine, Adam, André, Daniel, Katherine, Seann, and Doneal, as well as several great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; by several nieces and nephews; and by six stepchildren: Pat, Kelly, Terry, Tim, Danny, and Colleen.
In addition to her parents, Mom was predeceased by her first husband, Hubert Leger (1987); her second husband, Ron Browne (2004); three sons: Gerald (1964), Robert (2017), and Michael (2020); her daughter, Janice Wombolt (2022); her grandson Joshua (2001); three sisters: Gloria Payne (2005), Lenora White (2014), and Virginia Nelson (2016); and two brothers: Danny Marangoni (2020) and Martin Marangoni (2026); her son-in-law, Dave Lahey (2016); as well as two brothers who died in infancy.
For Mom, family came first, she raised ten children. She always stayed in touch with her loved ones through handwritten letters and cards so many cards! She sent hundreds every year. She was renowned for her cooking skills, particularly her famous homemade bread and meat pies. Mom was a beloved matriarch; she will be remembered for her dry wit, quick mind, and fierce independence. She cared deeply about staying informed on current events and the world around her. A woman of deep faith, she drew strength and comfort from her beliefs throughout her life. She enjoyed good food and especially cherished time spent with family around the table. Above all, Geneviève loved her family deeply and treasured the many family gatherings shared over the years. These get-togethers created countless precious memories that will remain etched in the minds of her loved ones. Her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her will remember her fondly and feel her absence deeply.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful, attentive staff at "O’Bons Soins" for the compassionate care they provided. Mom called them her "angels." They treated her like a member of the family.

A service will be held on Thursday, October 1, at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Frenette Funeral Centre, located at 396 Main Street in Shediac.
