It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Hubert Bourque, at the age of 87, on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. Born in Moncton, Hubert was the son of the late Yvon Bourque and Yvonne (Gautreau) Bourque.
In November 2020, he was predeceased by his beloved wife of 54 years, Rose-Marie (LeBlanc) Bourque.
Hubert will be lovingly remembered by his three sons: Jean-André Bourque (Nadine Lanteigne) of Caraquet, Michel Bourque (Bryan Clarke) of Calgary, AB, and Mathieu Bourque (Anik Couturier) of Dieppe; his three cherished grandchildren: Marie Bourque (Nicolas St-Laurent) of Petawawa, ON, Benoît Bourque of Caraquet, and Audrey Bourque of Dieppe; his brothers: Rev. Jean Bourque and Claude Bourque, both of Dieppe; his sisters-in-law: Anne-Marie LeBlanc (late Elmer Biddington) of Moncton, Bernice Drader (Robert) of Comox, BC, and Ginette Gallant of Fredericton; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Alphonse LeBlanc.
Hubert grew up in Moncton’s east end before his family moved to Saint-Anselme in the early 1950s. A proud graduate of Moncton High School and the Université de Moncton, he worked for more than three decades as a highly skilled and deeply respected land surveyor. He later concluded his career at NBCC in Moncton, where he shared his knowledge and experience as a civil engineering instructor in surveying. His dedication, expertise and quiet pride in his work remained hallmarks of his professional life.
Outside of work, Hubert was an accomplished piano player who delighted many over the years with his broad knowledge of music and strong improvisational skills. Above all, Hubert was a loving and devoted husband to Rose-Marie, as well as a steady and loving presence in the lives of his three sons, always offering his support, guidance and encouragement. He took immense joy in being a grandfather and cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren, taking great pride in their lives and accomplishments.
The family wishes to express its sincere gratitude to all the staff of Faubourg du Mascaret, including the LeBlanc, Cormier and Richard Pavilions, where Hubert lived for more than seven years, for the care, kindness and support shown to him throughout his stay. The family would also like to thank the staff of the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital for the excellent care provided to Hubert during his intermittent stays over the past year.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (506-858-1900), on Friday, September 25, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm only. A private funeral service for family and close friends will be celebrated at Frenette Funeral Home on Saturday, September 26, at 11 am. The funeral service will be streamed live; to view the funeral, go to Hubert’s obituary on the Frenette Website. Interment will take place at Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery in Dieppe. In memory of Hubert, a contribution to the CHU Dumont Foundation would be appreciated.
