Betty Jane LeBlanc, peacefully left this world on September 8, 2026 after an amazing life of 100 years. She was born in humble circumstances on September 27, 1925 to Robert and Marjorie Scott in Simonds, NB, spent time in an orphanage, and later was adopted at age 4 (along with her sister Alice) by Guy and Vivian Little. She grew up in the wonderful community of Harvey Station, NB, alongside Alice and two new brothers - Gray and Lewis Little. Betty was gifted at bringing to life her country childhood through her powerful memory for details and storytelling abilities.

As a young woman, Betty left the farm and moved to Moncton for work where she later met her husband Leandre (Joe) LeBlanc. They married in 1948 and raised seven children while Leandre's job at CN Rail had them moving between Moncton and Halifax. Wherever they went, Betty was a devoted, hard working wife and mother and a wonderful cook who was still baking bread for her family in her late 90s. Her positive outlook helped her weather life through many ups and downs and make friends wherever she lived. Her resilience and inner strength buoyed her family and carried her through a childhood during the Great Depression, widowhood, the loss of her oldest son, John and her difficult final illness.

Betty's natural intelligence, open-mindedness, and insatiable curiosity about the world gave her wide-ranging knowledge. From childhood, she was a voracious reader on all topics and loved reciting poetry to her children. Although she attended a one-room schoolhouse to grade 8, she could converse like a college professor and after raising her family, achieved her high school diploma. She engaged her mind daily with crosswords, cryptograms and jigsaw puzzles, enjoyed both classical and modern music, sang in a choir, painted, bowled and loved playing cards, especially bridge. Betty also travelled extensively in Canada, the US and Europe and brought her sense of wonder on each excursion.

Losing her indomitable spirit leaves an immense void in the lives of all who loved her. She is survived by her children: Nancy (Mike), Terry (Cecile), Michael, Deborah (Tim), Tamryn (Bruce) and Lisa; grandchildren: Matthew, Nicholas, Terry-Douglas, Christianne, Katherine, Marissa, Chantelle, Vanessa, Sean, Meredith and Logan. She is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Leandre, son John, twin infant daughters: Stephanie and Tamryn, infant grandsons: John and Christopher, as well as her siblings: Alice, Archie, Don, Bob, Gray, Lewis, Jenny, Phyllis and Johanna.

Special thanks to the many staff at SerenaCare who lovingly cared for our Mother these past two years.

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (506-858-1900) where the funeral service will be celebrated on Tuesday September 15 at 4 pm. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 2 pm until time of funeral. Interment will be at Fair Haven cemetery in Moncton. In memory of Betty, a contribution to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
