Géraldine Léger, 83, of Shediac, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 4, 2026, at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC. Born in Barachois, she was the daughter of the late Blair A. Léger and the late Rita Gaudet.

Prior to her retirement, Géraldine dedicated many wonderful years to working at Villa Providence. She was a truly big-hearted person whose kindness, generosity, and wonderful sense of humor touched the lives of those around her. Always willing to lend a helping hand, Géraldine found great joy in doing things for others and bringing a little happiness into their lives. Géraldine also enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, including playing the lottery and spending time on the things she loved. One of her greatest passions was knitting. With love and care in every stitch, she knitted baby hats, mittens, and finger puppets for the hospital, generously creating well over 500 items. Her handmade gifts brought warmth, comfort, and smiles to so many. When she wasn't knitting, Géraldine enjoyed working on different craft projects. Her creativity, kindness, and giving spirit were a beautiful reflection of the person she was. Géraldine will be remembered for her warm heart, her wonderful sense of humor, her generosity, and the love she shared. Her kindness left a lasting impression on the many people fortunate enough to know her.

She will be deeply missed by her four children: David (Ginette Melanson) of Dieppe, Darlene of Shediac River, Sandra (Dan Gallant) of Boudreau office, and Kenneth (Nancy Comeau) of Moncton; seven grandchildren: Ashley, Melissa, Aaron, Keila, James, Lily and Tyler; six great grandchildren: Cloe, Ryan, Willow, Oakland, Samuel, Zachary and soon to be a baby girl. Also, by many nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by her two brothers: Blair-Merville (late Elizabeth) of Grand-Barachois and Guy (Hélène Léger) of Moncton; and her three sisters: Huguette Léger of Gaspésie, Quebec, Priscille Gould (Réginald), and Ginette Bourque (Raymond), both of Grand-Barachois.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by one son, Steven Biddington; one great granddaughter, Sadie May Williams- Biddington ; her brothers: Charles-Edward and Lucien; and her sister, Rose-Marie Baker.

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral Centre, 396 Main Street, Shediac, on Friday September 11, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday September 12, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm followed by a celebration of life at 3:00 p.m., in the chapel of Frenette Funeral Center. The funeral service will be streamed live; to view the funeral, go to Géraldine Léger's obituary on the Frenette Website.

Arrangements are under the professional care of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 396 Main Street, Shediac (506-532-3297).
