Alistair Syme, 87, of Riverview, passed away on Friday August 14, 2026 at Monarch Hall. Born in Renfrew, Scotland, he was the son of the late Alexander Thomson Syme and Christina (Boyd) Syme. He was the last surviving member of his family as his only sister, Una, passed away many years ago.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Carol Ann Doucet. He will be fondly remembered by all the members of the Doucet family and by all of his friends.

Alistair was a chemical engineer and worked for Alcan Company of Canada in Scotland and in Canada. On retirement, he and Carol Ann settled in Shediac, New Brunswick. He was an active member of the curling club in Moncton and gave a lot of his time for the Shriners Children’s Organization.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no visitation at the funeral home and no funeral service. His ashes will be sent back to Scotland to be buried in the family funeral plot.

In memory of Alistair, a contribution to the Shriners Hospitals for Children-Canada would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements are in the professional care of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, Moncton (506-858-1900).

Words of comfort and donations may be made at www.frenettefuneralhome.com.
