Rita Gaudet, 100, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC. Born in Robichaud, she was the daughter of the late Jude and Émilie (LeBlanc) Gaudet.

Rita was a fun-loving person. She was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Always very welcoming, she loved having her children come to visit. She was known as an excellent cook. Her favourite pastimes were playing cards and bowling.

She will be sadly missed by three daughters: Odette Breau (Emery) of Grand-Barachois, Diane Gaudet (Normand) and Ginette Pertus (Michael), both of Shediac; four sons: Rhéal and Guy (late Patsy), both of Dieppe, Bermond (Debbie) of Grand-Barachois, and Roger (Jeannette) of Shediac; ten grandchildren: Joline, Nicole, Serge, Janelle, Luc, Jason, Joël, Annick, Martin and Jean-Marc; sixteen great-grandchildren; as well as her sister Thérèse (late Alonzo) of Shediac.

Besides her parents, Rita was predeceased by her husband, Gérard (1991); one grandson, Jérémie; as well as her brothers and sisters: Marie, Eva, Edmée, Delphine, Adrice, Jude and Gaspard.

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 2642 Acadie Road, Cap-Pelé, on Sunday, August 23, from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday, August 24, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. The funeral service will be celebrated at Ste-Thérèse-d’Avila Roman Catholic Church, 2648 Acadie Road, Cap-Pelé, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place in Ste-Thérèse-d’Avila Cemetery, Cap-Pelé.
