Gérard Cormier, 83, of Cap-Pelé, passed
away peacefully on Friday July 17, 2026, at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont
UHC in Moncton. Born in Cap-Pelé, he was the son of the
late Patrick and Eva (Cormier) Cormier.
He was a dedicated worker in the fish and seafood industry,
working closely with fishermen. A loyal supporter of the Montreal
Canadiens, he found joy in life's simple pleasures: a game of
baseball, bowling, darts, or cards. He was always happy to share these
moments with his family and friends. He will be remembered as a
hardworking, generous, sociable man who was deeply devoted to his
loved ones.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jeannita (Brun); two
daughters: Liza Cormier (Marc) of Dieppe and Sonia O’Brien
(Keith) of Shediac; two sons: Victor (Noëlla), and Terry
(Marie) both of Cap-Pelé; one sister, Bertha Doiron
(Gérard) of Cap-Pelé; his grand-children: Kevin,
Patrice, Sylvain, Patrick, Céline, Brandon, Britney,
Alexandre and Dominik; his great-grand-children: Kacey, Kelsey,
Charlie, Mirabelle, Olivier, Noah and Alec; as well as many nieces and
nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters:
Béatrice, Annie, Claudine, Mathilde,
Thérèse, Mélina, Claudia and
Éliza; his brothers: Lionel, Adrice and
Donat.
At the request of the family, there will be no visitation at
the funeral centre. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday
July 22, 2026, at 10:30 am at Ste-Thérèse
d'Avila Roman Catholic Church, 2648 Acadie Road, Cap-Pelé.
Interment will be in the Ste-Thérèse-d'Avila
R.C. parish Cemetery, in Cap-Pelé.
