Ross Harvey Wheaton, of Pointe‑du‑Chêne, NB, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026, at The Moncton Hospital. Born in Moncton, Ross lived a life marked by quiet strength, loyalty, and a deep appreciation for the simple moments that made each day meaningful.

Ross is survived by his son, Daniel John Laplante, of Ottawa, Ontario.

Ross built his home near Parlee Beach, where he found comfort in his daily morning and evening walks along the shoreline. The beach was his sanctuary — a place where he reflected, recharged, and connected with the world around him.

He retired from a long and dedicated career with CN Rail, working as both a welder and a bricklayer. Ross took pride in his craft and in the friendships, he built throughout his working years.

A lifelong dog lover, Ross had a special affection for German Shepherds. His gentle way with animals was well known, and dogs always seemed to sense the kindness in him.

Ross will be deeply missed by his devoted caregiver, Georgina, and by many close friends whose companionship enriched his life: Art, Ricky, Walker, Laura, Bill, Claire, Debbie, Zoel, Peter and many others who were fortunate to know him.

In keeping with Ross’s wishes, there will be no formal services. Those who knew him are encouraged to remember him in their own way — perhaps with a quiet walk by the water he loved so much.

RIP Ross — thank you for the memories, the stories, and the privilege of knowing you.

In memory of Ross, a donation to the donor’s choice would be appreciated.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 396 Main Street, Shediac (506-532-3297).
