Pauline Levesque, 90, of Dieppe, passed away peacefully on
Monday May 11, 2026 at her residence. Born in Moncton, she was the
daughter of the late Antoine and Dorilla (LeBlanc)
Leger.
She completed her primary studies at the Académie
Notre-Dame du Sacré-Cœur and her secondary
studies at the Collège Notre-Dame d’Acadie, both
directed by the Sisters of Notre-Dame du
Sacré-Cœur. She earned a Teachers License from
Teachers College (École Normale), as well as a Bachelor of
Education, a Bachelor of Arts, and a Master’s in Education
from Université de Moncton.
Pauline spent 36 years in education as a teacher, counselor,
school principal, and director of practice teaching at Teachers
College in Fredericton and at the Faculty of Education of
Université de Moncton. After retirement, she continued for
about ten years supervising practice teaching placements. Teacher
training and formative teaching remained her lifelong passion, and she
believed that a sound understanding, together with classroom skills,
was the key to success.
Pauline was an honorary member of the Association des
enseignantes et des enseignants francophones du Nouveau-Brunswick, a
member of the Société des enseignantes et des
enseignants retraités francophones du Nouveau-Brunswick,
the Société des Acadiens et Acadiennes du
Nouveau-Brunswick, and the Alumni of Université de
Moncton.
She loved to organize family and group reunions, read, play
cards—especially bridge—with her friends, eat at
restaurants, travel, and attend concerts. These were among her
favorite pastimes.
She volunteered as secretary to the parish council at
Christ-Roi Church in Moncton and at
Sainte-Thérèse Parish in Dieppe, when she was a
member of each parish. As a member of the pastoral team at
Sainte-Thérèse Parish in Dieppe from 2000 to
2008, Pauline coordinated religious activities for adult faith
education, in cooperation with the Catholic parishes of the Greater
Moncton area.
She is survived by her son, Marc Levesque (Kara), and her
grandchildren, Chloe Levesque and Callie Levesque, all of Kanata,
Ont.; one sister, Marie Hebert (Clarence) of Ottawa, Ont.; one
brother-in-law, Georges Girard of Gatineau, Qué.; as well
as sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and several nieces and
nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband,
Joseph Leon Levesque in 1974, and one sister, Antoinette
Girard.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and
Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (506-858-1900) on Monday
June 15 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm only. The funeral mass will be
celebrated at
Sainte-Thérèse-de-l’Enfant-Jésus
Church, 457 Acadie Avenue, Dieppe, on Tuesday June 16 at 11 am. A
reception will follow at the Dieppe Golden Age Club. Interment will be
at Notre-Dame-du-Calvaire Cemetery in Dieppe.
In her memory, a contribution to the Heart and Stroke
Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be
appreciated.
