Jean B. Cudmore, 100, of Riverside Albert, passed away on
Friday April 10, 2026 at Forest Dale Nursing Home. Born in Coates
Mills, she was the daughter of the late Beverly Harrison and Winnifred
Eunice (Murray) Coates.
As a girl, Jean was brought up in Scotch Settlement on the
farm with her brothers and sisters. She enjoyed the farm life that she
had with her mother and father, and all the members of the community.
In recent years, Jean attended Sunny Brae Baptist, and while there,
God brought her to a saving faith and knowledge of Jesus, of which
many of us are thankful.
In 1955, after a number of years of renting, Jean and her
husband bought a home in Gunningsville. Between raising a family and
working out at places like U.I.C, Mom was kept very busy during that
time. In addition to this, her husband Doug, through the
1960’s, ran two businesses on behalf of British American
Oil. These were very busy times for the both of them.
In recent years, life has been difficult for Jean, as she had
to contend with a number of medical conditions. In spite of this, she
continued to carry on.
She is survived by two children: Jane Elizabeth of Dartmouth,
N.S., and Greg (Meta) of Weldon; two grandchildren: Randy Jr. and
Crystal; as well as her nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving
member of her immediate family.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband,
Douglas Hinson Cudmore (1989); one grandson, Jason Anketell; four
sisters: Myrtle, Juanita, Grace and Leona; three brothers: Melvin,
Leonard, and Rae.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no visitation
and no funeral service. Interment will be in Scotch Settlement
cemetery. In memory of Jean, a contribution to the Sunny Brae Baptist
Church (Elmwood Drive) would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements are
in the professional care of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre,
Moncton (506-858-1900).
