Roger Melanson, a loving father, devoted husband and
passionate drummer, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2026, at age 73,
leaving behind a legacy of music, family dinners, and a whole lot of
heart.
Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Art and Lorette
(Cormier) Melanson. Roger was a natural rhythm-maker. He spent decades
behind the drum kit, playing in many bands alongside his brothers. He
loved the timeless beats of The Beatles and Elvis Presley, often
tapping out rhythms to his favorite tunes. When he wasn’t
playing music, he was likely admiring a classic car or sharing stories
at the dinner table.
Roger found the love of his life in Georgette, with whom he
shared countless happy years. He was a man with a deep capacity for
love, which he poured into his grandchildren, whom he adored with all
his heart.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Tanya LeBlanc (Rob);
his loving wife, Georgette; his brothers: Gerald (Gerry) Melanson
(Donna), Ron Melanson (Aline) and Claude Melanson (Gabe), and his
precious grandchildren: Cody, Ryan, Danaya and Bradley; as well as his
mother-in-law, sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and many
other family and friends.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his cherished
daughter, Lisa Marie Melanson.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and
Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (506-858-1900) where the
funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday April 9 at 11 am.
