It is with deep sadness that the family of Norma Lappi
announces her passing on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at the
CHU Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont in Moncton, at the age of 78. A
resident of Grand-Barachois and formerly of Saint-Basile, she was the
daughter of the late Albert and Lenora (Levesque)
Mercure.
Norma was a woman defined by her devotion to her family and
her vibrant spirit. Nothing brought her more joy
than spending time with her children and
grandchildren, whether during large family gatherings or her
cherished "special dinners." One never
had to look far to find Norma; you simply had to follow the sound of
her infectious laughter, which served as the heartbeat of every room
she entered.
Beyond her joyful presence, Norma was a pillar of support for
those she loved. She possessed a gift for listening and was a
constant source of wisdom, always ready to offer sound advice
on life's ups and downs. Her guidance and empathy will be
deeply missed by all who sought her support.
Norma is now peacefully reunited with the love of her life,
Jorma, whom she missed profoundly since his passing in 2018.
After carrying his memory in her heart all
these years, she is finally back by his side.
She is survived by her only living child: Krysta LeBlanc
(Daniel) of Shediac and; three grandchildren: Khalia, Emily,
and Noah; three sisters: Nicole Deschenes,
Francine Bossé, and Solange Smart; as well as her
two brothers: Adrien Mercure and
Claude Mercure.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her
husband: Jorma Lappi, her son Michael Vigneau and by her brother,
Réal Mercure and sister Claudette Mercure (in
infancy).
In accordance with the family's wishes, there will be no
visitation. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday,
March 7, 2026, at 1:00 PM in the chapel of the
Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 396 Main Street,
Shediac. The funeral service will be streamed live; to view
the funeral, go to Norma’s obituary on the Frenette

In memory of Norma, a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society
or the Vestiaire Saint-Joseph Inc. in Shediac would be
