It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Jim "Pops" Lacey, 56, on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC. Jim was born in New Westminster, BC on September 25, 1969, and resided in Grand Barachois, NB.

Jim’s life was marked not only by struggle, but by profound courage, redemption and love. Through strength, humility and unwavering determination, he chose recovery. Sobriety became the turning point of his life. He worked tirelessly to rebuild trust, to mend relationships, and to show up consistently for the people he loved - a decision that reshaped his future and lead him to become the man he was always capable of being.

His later years were defined not by his struggles, but by his growth. He became an example of resilience – proof that change is possible and that redemption can lead to a life filled with purpose and connection. He found lasting love and married his best friend. As a husband, he was devoted, loyal and deeply supportive.

As a bonus dad to many, he was patient, present, and protective – offering guidance, laughter and unconditional love. He took immense pride in family. Pops proved every single day that any man can be a father, but it takes someone truly special to be a dad.

He will be remembered for his humour, his big heart, his hard-earned wisdom, and the way he showed that true strength lies in vulnerability and perseverance. His endlessly generous heart, humorous soul and confidence to be exactly who he was will be missed beyond words.

He leaves behind his mother, Kathy (Kane) Germain, father, Rick Germain and his bonus mother, Mary (Dubetz) Lacey. His beloved wife Tammy (Puckrin) Lacey; his children: Kenneth "Kenny" Scott, Casandra Lacey, Amanda Taylor, Katlyn "Kate" Lyons (Kyle), Michelle Taylor (Cody), Jesse Magrath (Tatum), Justin Magrath, Matthew Magrath (Ella), and Jace Magrath; his grandchildren: Niko, Lilly, Michael, Maddie, Brennley, Isabella and Benson; his brothers: John Lacey, Patrick Lacey, David Lacey, Blaine Lacey, and Ryan Lacey.

Jim was predeceased by his two brothers: Michael Germain and Ricky Germain, and his bonus son; Bradley Taylor.

There will be a celebration of life for Jim, in London, Ontario, at a later date.

In memory of Jim, the family encourages donations to a local addiction recovery organization in his honor – continuing the hope he carried so proudly.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 396 Main Street, Shediac (506-532-3297).
