It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Joyce Catherine Côté, of Shediac, NB, on Tuesday February 17, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Whitney Pier, Cape Breton, NS, in 1937, she was the daughter of late John and Catherine (Young) Long.

Joyce’s greatest joy in life was her family. She leaves behind her three children, who were by her side in her final moments: John (Leona), Linda Doiron (Allen), and Joey (Jolyne) as well as grandchildren: Cody and Kyle Doiron, Ellie and Adam Côté.Joyce is also survived by her brothers: Robert Long, Kenneth Long and Leo Long; sisters: Ollie Hubert, Leona MacNeil and Colleen Sampson; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Joyce was predeceased by her loving husband of 47 years, Adrien Côté; brothers: Arthur Long, Roy Long, Jackie Long, Lloyd Long and Wallace Long; sisters: Shirley Postlewaite and Rose Johnstone. While Joyce raised her children in Shediac, she carried her Cape Breton roots with her throughout her life. Sydney was always home for her, no matter where she lived. Her compassion, resilience, and deep devotion to her family remained a guiding light throughout her life. Her legacy is one of love, generosity, and quiet courage.

As per Joyce’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A private funeral service for close family members will be held at a later date in the chapel of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 396 Main Street, Shediac. Joyce will be laid to rest at SaintJoseph R.C. Cemetery later in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations of the donor’s choice in her honor. Joyce will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Cremation and funeral arrangements are under the direction of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 396 Main Street Shediac (532-3297).
