Guy Poitras, 83, a resident of Castel Des Flots Bleus Ltd. in
Cap-Pelé, passed away on February 9, 2026. Born in
Saint-Léonard-Parents, NB, and formerly of Gagnon Beach,
NB, he was the son of the late Daniel and Gemma (Laplante)
Poitras.
Guy served in military from 1959-1995, spent winters in
Florida with Yolande, Nina & Bella. In 2024, he
became a resident of Castel des Flots Bleus, Cap-Pelé,
where he was cared for by an amazing group of caregivers!
Thank you to a special friend Raymonde & family who
welcomed him & brought him love & happiness.
Dad lost - cancer won! He will be missed by many, -now you can Rest in
Peace & be reunited with everyone in heaven. Take
care of mom, Jessica & Dallas. Watch over us until
we are reunited. We love you - your family.
He is survived by his two daughters: Janice (Donald) Payne of
Haute-Aboujagane and Jocelyne (Jacques) McGraw of Cormier-Village;
three grandchildren: Ghislain, Stéphanie, and Gabriel; one
great-granddaughter, Emma; four brothers: Ghislain Martin,
Gaëtan Martin, Maurice Martin, and Émile
"June" Martin; five sisters: Laurence "Coune"
Legacé, Jeanne Martin, Jacinthe Boucher, Jeannine Levesque,
and Noëlla Martin; as well as several nieces and
nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife,
Yolande (2019); a granddaughter, Jessica; a great-grandson, Dallas;
his sisters: Thérèse Gaudet, Jacqueline Ruest,
Ginette Lajeunesse, and Danielle "Pousse" Poitras; and his
brothers: Alyre Martin and Gilles "P’Tit Gill"
Martin.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral
Centre, 396 Main Street, Shediac (506-532-3297), on Tuesday, February
17, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at
