It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alcide Gautreau, 93, of Moncton, on Friday January 23, 2026 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Anselme "Sam" and Léonie (Collette) Gautreau.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Beverly Clarke; children: Sharon Maillet (Roger), Roger Gautreau, Diane Potter, and Sheana Gautreau; grandchildren: Chris, Sara, Jessica, Jennifer (Tom), Chantal (Ben), and Jessie (Alyssa); great-grandchildren: Joshua, Hannah, Cooper, Aria, Everly, Lyla, Ben, Parker, and Ellie; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one son, Alcide Jr. "Junior" (1979); and three brothers: Laurier "Laurie", Norman, and William "Willie".

Through the years, Alcide drove taxi for White Cab, was a custodian for District 2 school board, and retired as a Commissionaire.

His greatest joy was his family, his faith, and music.

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (506-858-1900) on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of departure (10:45).

The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Bernard’s Roman Catholic Church, 43 Botsford Street, Moncton on Wednesday, January 28 at 11 a.m.  Interment will be at Our Lady of Calvary cemetery in Dieppe.

In memory of Alcide, a contribution to IWK Foundation would be appreciated.
