Rita Sitarski, 77, of Moncton, passed away peacefully at the Moncton Residence on January 12, 2026. Born in Irishtown, she was the daughter of the late Adelard and Anna (Saulnier) Cormier.

She is survived by her daughters: Charo Gale (Robert) and Natalie Nichols; nine grandchildren: Savannah, Sophie, Shelby, Chandler, Ashten, Sidney, Neena, Chase, and Brittney; her daughter-in-law, Cheryl Anderson; her siblings: Viola Belliveau (Antoine), Annette Haché (Léo), Ernestine LeBlanc (Raymond), Euclide (Paula), and Jean-Guy (Karen); the father of her daughters, Philip Sitarski; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Jerry Melanson; her common law spouse, Paul Leger; her son, Jerry Sitarski; her daughter, Suzanne Jeffs; two sisters: Laura Dallaire (Ovila), and Gloria Delaney (Leonard); eight brothers: Paul, Lionel, Clarence, Louis, Aubin, Zéphir, Vincent, and Ronald; as well as her special friend, Patrick Connors.

A celebration of life and interment will be held later in the summer. In memory of Rita, a contribution to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements are in the professional care of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, Moncton (506-858-1900).
