It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Simonne Cormier, age 97, which occurred on January 8, 2026, at Villa Providence in Shediac. Born in Scoudouc, she was the daughter of the late Phileas Melanson and Lottie Melanson.

 Simonne was a devoted homemaker. She also cherished spending her winters in Florida with Emile. During the summer months, she enjoyed time at the family cottage in Cocagne, where she found great pleasure in tending to her garden and flowers.

She is survived by her daughter, Claire, of Montreal; her sisters, Bernadette, and Rose-Marie ; and her brother, Alcide, all of Shediac. Her two brothers-in-law: George (Yvette) of Shediac and Donald (Yvonne) of Scoudouc; two sisters-in-law: Nadine, Louise, and also by many nieces and nephews.

 In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her two brothers: Gerald and Valerie; one sister Pierrette;two brothers-in-law: Ron and Clairence; also by one sister-in-law Jean.

With sincere appreciation, the Simonne family acknowledges the outstanding care provided by Villa Providence. We further extend our heartfelt thanks to Au Bon Soin for their dedicated and specialized support. The kindness of both teams will always be remembered.

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral Centre, 396 Main Street, Shediac (506-532-3297), on January 13, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Chapelle service will be celebrated on January 13, 2026, at 4:00 p.m.

 In memory of Simonne, donations to the Scoudouc Cemetery or to the charity of one’s choice would be appreciated.
