Thérèse Belliveau Sonier, 100, of
Dieppe, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at the
Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC. Born in Moncton, she was the cherished
daughter of the late Thaddée and Jeanne (Landry)
Bourque.
Thérèse leaves behind a legacy of love,
strength, and quiet wisdom. She is survived by her devoted husband,
Emery Sonier, with whom she shared many years of companionship and
gentle joy. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Claudia
Gaudet (Jean-Eudes) and Georgette LeBlanc (Paul-Emile); her
son‐in‐law, Ronald Poirier; her step-children,
Maurice Sonier (Susan Goulet), Céleste Drapeau (Gilles),
and Gisèle Blanchard (Claude); her grandchildren, Michelle,
Marc-André, and Martine; and her
great‐grandchildren, Daniel and André Raymond as
well as Daniel and Ashley Silliker who brought her immense pride and
delight. She also leaves behind step‐grandchildren,
great‐step‐grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and
extended family who adored their Tante Thérèse.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, a matriarch
whose presence anchored generations.
She is reunited with her beloved daughter, Marie-Claire
Poirier, her step‐daughter, Carmelle Leroux; and all her
siblings: André, Hélène, Henri, Yvon,
and Léo‐Paul. She is also predeceased by her
first husband, André "Babe"
Belliveau.
Thérèse was a woman of quiet strength
and many gifts. With her gentle wit, steady guidance, and natural
ability to lead from the background, she shaped the lives of those
around her in ways that will be felt for years to come. As a dedicated
homemaker, she created a warm and welcoming home where family
gathered, laughed, and felt deeply loved. To her nieces and nephews,
she was the treasured Tante Thérèse, always
ready with kindness, encouragement, and a twinkle in her
eye.
For many years, she embraced life with curiosity and
joy— golfing, skating, curling, and travelling well into her
senior years. Her spirit remained youthful, her heart open, and her
love for her family unwavering.
Thérèse lived a full century, and in
those 100 years she gifted her family and community with grace,
resilience, and boundless affection. Her memory will be held close by
all who were blessed to know her.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and
Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (506-858-1900) where the
funeral service will be celebrated on Wednesday December 17 at 11 am.
