Anthony "Tony" Petitpas
1952-2025
It is with heartfelt sadness, that we announce the passing of our cherished brother Tony, 72, from Shediac, on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the Georges-L.-Dumont UHC. Born in Pointe-du-Chêne, he was the son of the late Harold and Agnes (LeBlanc) Petitpas.
Tony is survived by his son: Paul Benoît of Campbellton; his two sisters: Betty Morrisey of Shediac and Christine Petitpas of Shediac Bridge; one brother: Danny (Peggy) of Kensington, PEI.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his by his first wife (Diane Benoît) of Dalhousie; his two sisters: Rita McGregor and Shirley Hughes; his two brothers: Robert and Norman, all of the greater Halifax area. He was also predeceased by his infant sister Beverley as well by his very special friend Marie.
Tony worked as a track welder for CN for many years. During his career there, he travelled all over the Maritimes. After leaving the CN, he moved to Dalhousie to be with his family. From there, he took a job in maintenance at the Comfort Inn in Campbellton. Tony was a jack of all trades, having studied: electrical engineering, welding and refrigeration at the St. Andrew’s College. There was nothing he couldn’t fix and was quick to help a friend in need. He was an avid windsurfer for many years and loved to swim off the Pointe wharf. After losing his leg due to medical reasons, Tony would get on his scooter and go to the Pointe wharf and dive into the water and spend a couple of hours just swimming around, until the time came when he no longer could climb the ladder.
The family would like to thank Pascal Poirier Home Care for the care they provided to Tony over the years; Special thanks to home care worker Ginette and especially Jean-Paul Cormier, who gave Tony exceptional care and pulled him through some very difficult times.
As per his wishes, there will be no visitation or service at this time. This coming summer, there will be a celebration at the Pointe wharf.
In memory of Tony, donations can be
made to the Canadian Cancer Society New Brunswick or to the Heart and
Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick.
