Daxton Sterling Francis Powell, forever 2, of Moncton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at his residence. Born in Moncton, he was the beloved son of Benjamin Powell and Amber Blackmore.

Sweet Daxton was our beautiful baby boy who found so much joy and happiness simply being with his family. His little smile was so contagious—it could light up any room. He was a gift we never knew we needed, but now we can’t imagine our lives without him. Daxton loved his touch books when he was able, and his greatest comfort was always his beloved bubba.

Besides his parents, he is survived by his sister, Penelope; brothers, Jack, Ethan, and Logan; maternal grandmother, Carrie Blackmore; maternal great-grandmother, Frances Blackmore; paternal grandmother, Louise Roberts; aunts, Megan Blackmore (Simon) and Raven Geldart (Nathan); uncles, Alexander Kelly (Hailey Johnson), Frankie Powell (Jamie Arsenault), Joseph Garland (Sabrina Eatmon) and Danny Finck; as well as cousins, Luna, Aaveius, and Malakai.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Francis Powell, and his maternal great-grandfather, Michael Blackmore.

There is a Daxton-sized hole in the hearts of everyone who knew him—one that can never be filled. But we hold on to the hope that one day, we can bring change in his honor and carry his light forward.

His light will shine forever.

A celebration of Daxton’s life will be held at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (506-858-1900), on Wednesday, October 15, from 2 to 4 pm only.
