With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Bernadette
(Bernie) Cecile Bourque on Saturday September 13, 2025 at the Dr.
Georges-L.-Dumont UHC. Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of the
late Gérard and Euclida (LeBlanc) Bourque.
Bernie attended Vanier High School and was in the last
graduating class. Bernie continued her studies with the New Brunswick
Community College and received a diploma in food and beverage. She
went on to work with Via Rail, Dun & Bradstreet and had a long
stint with Fairmont Hotels & Resorts as a Reservation
Agent.
Bernie’s career always revolved around people, as
she had a natural gift for bringing joy and connection wherever she
went. Her love of music and performing shone brightly through her
passion for karaoke. Each week, she hosted a lively karaoke night at
the Salty Sea Dog, where her energy and warmth turned the event into
more than just entertainment—it became a gathering place
where friendships were made and memories were created.
Her infectious smile could light up any room and her
adventurous spirit carried her far beyond the stage. Bernie had a deep
love for travel and exploration, always eager to discover new places
and embrace new experiences. Whether she was singing her heart out,
sharing a laugh with friends, or setting off on her next adventure,
Bernie lived life with enthusiasm and left a lasting impression on
everyone fortunate enough to know her. In her final days, Bernie
fought a brave battle with Multiple Systems Atrophy (MSA) with
remarkable strength and courage.
Bernie is survived by her loving partner, Phillip Jabalee;
her step-children: Joshua (Ali) and Jennifer (Harry); her brother Paul
Bourque and her one nephew Teaville; her sister-in-law, Evelyn
Osano; as well as aunts, numerous cousins,
extended family members and special friends.
Besides her parents, Bernie is predeceased by her brothers:
Roger and Louis (Marsha).
