Elia Melanson, 93, of Moncton, passed away on Saturday July 5, 2025 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC. Born in St-Norbert, she was the daughter of the late Hector and Henriette (Gallant) Maillet.

Prior to her retirement, Elia worked in the kitchen at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital. She was a member of the Club d’Âge d’Or Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, as well as les Dames Chevalières in Parkton.

She is survived by her children: Diane Arsenault (Terrance), Bernice Boudreau (Maurice), Louise Melanson (Gary Gibbon) and Ron Melanson (Lisa Légère); one son in law, Paul Hébert; eight grandchildren: Bev, Line, Mélanie, Janick, Julie, Karine, Nikos and Zoé; six great-grandchildren: Sébastien, Mathis, William, Luka, Callie and Alexia; one sister, Linda Duff (Bob); one sister-in-law, Noëlla Maillet; as well as many friends, nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Paul-Émile Melanson (2005), one daughter, Denise Hébert (2020); and one brother, Léo Maillet (1999).

The family would like to thank Dr Isabelle Anne Girouard, the staff of Résidence Mapleton and the Extra Mural for all the wonderful care given to Elia.

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (506-858-1900) on Tuesday from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm only. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Notre-Dame-de-Grâce R.C. Church, 858 Mountain Road, Moncton, on Wednesday July 9 at 2 pm. Interment will be at Our Lady of Calvary cemetery in Dieppe. In memory of Elia, a contribution to the CHU Dumont Foundation (oncology) or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
