Philippe "Claude"
Renaud, 77, of Haute-Aboujagane, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2025,
at Villa Providence in Shediac after a lengthy illness. Born in
Shediac, he was the son of William and Marguerite (Bourque)
Renaud.
Claude worked as a retirement
pension advisor for 27 years and served as a union representative from
1985 to 1991. He earned his bachelor's degree from the
Université de Moncton with a major in history and geography
and a minor in education in 1973.
Afterward, Claude published a
play and also wrote and directed two short films with the National
Film Board. He proudly participated in the Congrès Mondial
acadien ’94 with the team "Tours Placide Gaudet
Inc."
A passionate genealogist, he
conducted genealogical and historical research on his own family as
well as that of his wife. Claude enjoyed good food and wine. He loved
to cook and especially excelled with his homemade
pizzas.
He was a bon vivant, as they
say, often telling stories with exaggerated flair that made his
coworkers and friends laugh. An artist at heart, he always had a
project "on the go." Generous and positive, Claude was a
devoted family man and a loving husband. Since his illness, his family
deeply missed the liveliness he brought to their home. We wish him a
joyful reunion with his ancestors in the
afterlife.
He is survived by his wife of
49 years, Ella (Bourgeois) Renaud of Haute-Aboujagane; his daughter,
Lise Renaud, and his son, Samuel Renaud, both of Haute-Aboujagane. He
is also survived by his two sisters: Francine Cormier
(Léonard) of Shediac and Denise Nolet (Paul) of Edmundston;
his three brothers: Yvon (Jacqueline), Robert (Norma), and Michel, all
of Shediac; as well as his brothers-in-law: Shawn Hickey of Scoudouc
and Larry Arsenault of Shediac, and several nieces and
nephews.
In addition to his parents, he
was predeceased by two brothers: Ronald and Gilles; and three sisters:
Rose-Marie LeBlanc, Johanne Hickey, and Yvonne
Arsenault.
The family would like to
warmly thank the staff of Villa Providence for their care and kindness
toward Claude.
