With the heaviest of hearts, we announce the sudden passing of our dear Kathleen "Kate" Elizabeth Ahern, 69, of Dartmouth, NS, on Tuesday, May 27th, 2025.
Born in Moncton, NB, she was the daughter of the "late Joseph" and Dorilla "Dot" (Saulnier) Ahern. She is survived by Daniel Ahern, nephews Brendan and Aidan, Brian and Michelle Ahern, nephews David, Stephen, and great nephew, Braden, Timothy Ahern, niece, Josianne, and Michael and Michelle Ahern the guardians of Kathleen’s beloved collies; as well as many cousins, several great aunts, and many good friends, especially Mr. Robert Breau. She was predeceased by her loving father and sister-in-law, Annette Ahern.
Kathleen received her degree in Environmental Planning from NSCAD University and recently retired after years managing the Centennial Pool in Halifax, NS.
Always an astute observer of life, our Kathleen was an avid traveler of the world, but most notably of Ireland. Vastly read, a painter, and devoted Christian, she saw the beauty of our world through her faith, love for her family, compassion for the suffering of others, and a wild sense of humour. Ever sympathetic to animals, she spent her life loving, training, and shadowed by three border collies, the most recent of which were Joey, Mikey and Cassie. And, whether with her dogs or with people, she was always the "Alpha." It will be hard to make room for her loss in our lives.
There will be a family ceremony at the time of her internment at a later date.
