Aurore Gagnon, 91, of Moncton, passed away on Thursday June
5, 2025 at the Pavillon Landry of Faubourg du Mascaret. Born in
Saint-Anselme, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and
Arzélie (LeBlanc) LeBlanc.
Aurore had a diverse career. She started in retail in the
1950s, with her first job at Macy’s, where she specialized
in women’s clothing. For many years, she welcomed into her
home people living with mental health challenges, offering them
attentive and compassionate care. With her love for sweets, she also
ran a small fudge business, which she prepared with passion. She loved
knitting and crocheting and created many knitted blankets (afghans)
and doilies. She had a love for singing and, in retirement, sang in a
choir alongside her husband Alcide. She was a member of the Dames
d’Acadie and the Ladies’ Auxiliary with the
Knights of Columbus.
She is survived by four children: Marc (Claudette), Gilles
(Janice), Jean-Luc (Sylvie), and Lissa (Michelle); nine grandchildren:
Adam, Suzanne, Kristen, Sébastien, Isabelle, Wesley,
Justine, Nicolas, and Cassie; five great-grandchildren:
Félix, Zaiden, Kian, Aurora, Madelynn, and
William. She also leaves behind a few sisters-in-law and
brothers-in-law, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was the
last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Alcide (2017); three
sisters: Yvonne, Andréa, and Edith; six brothers:
Arsène, Zoël, Edouard, Edgar, Henri, and
Antoine.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude towards
the staff of Pavillon Landry for their exceptional care provide to
Aurore.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and
Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (506-858-1900) where the
funeral service will be celebrated on Tuesday June 17 at 3 pm.
Visiting hours are Tuesday June 17 from 1:30 pm until time of funeral.
Interment will be at Our Lady of Calvary cemetery in Dieppe. In memory
of Aurore, a contribution to the Alzheimer Society would be
appreciated.
