Sister Noëlla Babineau (Sr Marie-Lina), ndsc, passed away following a lengthy illness on Friday May 16, 2025 at the Motherhouse of the Religieuses de Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Coeur in Moncton. She was 92 years of age and in the 74th year of her religious life. Born in Saint-Norbert, she was the daughter of the late Gérard and Alice (Boucher) Babineau.
Besides her religious family, she is survived by two sisters: Anna (late Raymond Gosselin) of Terrebonne, QC, and Alfreda (late Benoît Soucy) of Laval, QC; one brother, Arthur (Thérèse LeClaire) of Saint-Antoine; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by six sisters: Donalda, Dorice, Emerise, Carmen, Maria and Lina; and five brothers: Cyrille, Alcide, Hector, and infants Alfred and Noé.
Sister Noëlla will be resting at the Notre-Dame-d’Acadie Pavilion of the Maison-mère des Religieuses Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Coeur, 125 King Street, Moncton (Godfrey Lane entrance) on Tuesday May 20 from 2 pm to 8:30 pm, with Solemn Vespers at 7 pm. Visitations will start again on Wednesday May 21 from 9 am until the funeral mass. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday May 21 in the Maison-mère chapel at 10 am. The funeral mass will be streamed live and may be viewed on her obituary at www.frenettefuneralhome.com where condolences may also be sent. Interment will be in Memramcook.
