Surrounded by her loving family on Friday, March 14, 2025, our dear mother Dorothy Jacob, passed away at her home at Pavillon Landry of the Faubourg du Mascaret, after a brief illness. Born in Petit-Cap, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Minnie (Cormier Porelle) LeBlanc.
Dorothy was an exceptional seamstress specializing in invisible weaving for a dry cleaning company. She made beautiful quilts that were displayed in House and Homes Magazine and crocheted little dresses and accessories that were very popular in the 70’s. Her favorite pastimes were music, bingo and especially going to the casino where she went almost every weekend. She was well liked by her friends and workers at her retirement home. She was always delighted to have visits from her family, especially her great-grandchildren, Adèle and mostly Ares who visited her almost every Sunday, he was her ray of sunshine.
She will be sadly missed by her three children: Georges (Janita) of Cap-Pelé, Diane Doiron (late Joseph) and Danny (Bernadette) both of Dieppe; her grandchildren: Christian Jacob (Céline), Serge Jacob (Trista), Rémi Jacob (Maja), Sonia Doiron (Mark Blanchard), Justin Jacob, Sophie Jacob (Mitchel Grant) and Mathieu LeBlanc (Samantha); her great-grandchildren: Tyler, Aiden, Paje and Hope Adèle; her siblings: Billy (Bernice) LeBlanc and Marie (Henri) Fougère both of Petit-Cap; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her spouse, Emile (1980); her son Ronny (2007); grandson Marc (1998); and her siblings: Emma Cormier (Ovila), Elizabeth Landry (Adelard) and George LeBlanc (Marguerite).
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no visitation and no funeral. Interment will be in Shemogue. In memory of Dorothy, a contribution to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
