Sister Zella Cormier (Sr Edmée-Marie), ndsc, passed away after a life well lived on Saturday February 15, 2025 at the Motherhouse of the Religieuses de Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Coeur in Moncton. She was 96 years and in the 77th year of her religious life. Born in Saint-Paul-de-Kent, she was the daughter of the late Alyre and Anna (Cormier) Cormier.
Besides her religious family, she is survived by one sister, Claudette Lessard (Henri) of Sherbrook, QC; one brother, Émile (Idora) of Dieppe; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by 10 sisters: Edmée, Azémia, Lorraine, Bernadette, Thérèse, Anise, Jeannine, Yolande, Dorice and Maria; and two brothers: Ulysse and Émerie.
Sister Zella will be resting at the Notre-Dame-d’Acadie Pavilion of the Maison-mère des Religieuses Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Coeur, 125 King Street, Moncton (Godfrey Lane entrance) on Tuesday February 18 from 2 pm to 8:30 pm, with Solemn Vespers at 7 pm. Visitations will start again on Wednesday February 19 from 9 am until the funeral mass. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday February 19 in the Maison-mère chapel at 10 am. The funeral mass will be streamed live and may be viewed on her obituary at www.frenettefuneralhome.com where condolences may also be sent. Interment will be in Memramcook.
