Our beloved mother, Flora (Hasselman) Poirier, wife of the
late Gérard Poirier (March 12, 2018), passed away at the
age of 94 years on February 10, 2025 at Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont
University Hospital Centre. Born in Jailletville, NB, she
was the daughter of the late Édouard and
Dométhilde (Richard) Hasselmann.
She is survived by one son: Roméo (Patricia) of
Ottawa; three daughters: Denise, Joanne (Eugène LeBlanc) of
Moncton, Ginette (Paul Gauvin) of Irishtown; nine grandchildren:
Sébastien, Michel, Jean-Simon, Marie-Michelle,
Marc-André, Nicolas, Daniel, Mario, Denis, and 11
great-grandchildren; as well as several cousins, nieces and
nephews.
She was the last surviving member of the Hasselman family.
Mother was predeceased by four sisters: Irène Maillet
(Jean), Julia Boudreau (Lionel), Rita Cormier (Narcisse), Dorice
Poirier (Aldrice); eight brothers: Émile (Exelda), Louis
(Exelda), Henri (Florence), Ernest, Maurice
(Thérèse), Albert
(Évangéline), Arthur (Marie), Roger (Margaret);
as well as her adoptive son, Harvey Cormier.
As a young girl, Mom worked at the Moncton Orphanage, Marvens
Biscuits, Deluxe French Fries and finished at Beauséjour
School before retiring.
A devoted mother to her family and to our father, she was
content to see her family happy with unconditional love. Mom lived her
life to the fullest with little pleasures, such as playing
"200", quilting, cooking, traveling and caring for her many
grandchildren.
Special thanks to the staff on the 4th floor of the Dr.
Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre for their excellent care
during our mother's short stay.
