Michel Pitre, 60, of Moncton, passed away on Tuesday January 28, 2025 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC. Born in Bathurst, he was the son of Régina (Boudreau) Pitre of Robertville and the late Cletus Pitre.

Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife of 25 years, Lise Duguay; two daughters: Angelie (Maxime Manuel) and Camïe (Jérémie Buote), both of Moncton; one sister, Joanne Pitre (Clément Doucet) of Robertville; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Viola and Jaddus Duguay of Moncton; one brother-in-law, Bruno Duguay of Calgary, AB; one nice and two nephews: Yannick, Zoë, and Connor; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Besides his father, he was predeceased by one sister, Nathalie Pitre.

A musician at heart from an early age, Michel was a member of more than a dozen musical groups of all genres. He was also owner of the Greater Moncton Academy of Music and coordinator of the Long & McQuade School of Music in Moncton. For the past several years, as a beloved music teacher at multiple schools in the District scolaire francophone Sud, he passed on his passion, knowledge and love of music to students on a daily basis.

A seasoned singer-songwriter, and winner of the Gala de la Chanson de Caraquet, Michel continually sought to incorporate his Acadie and culture into his songs.

Michel had a particular talent for manual projects, and was always making little creative surprises around the house.

In Michel's eyes, nothing was more important than his beloved Lise and his daughters Angelie and Camïe. With his reserved presence, gentle gestures and great tenderness, he ensured that each of them received the love and attention they so richly deserved.

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (506-858-1900) from where the funeral will be celebrated on Tuesday February 4 at 11 am. Visiting hours are Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm only. In memory of Michel, a contribution to Jeunes Chanteurs d’Acadie (www.jcacadie.ca) would be appreciated. The funeral service will be streamed live and may be viewed on his obituary at www.frenettefuneralhome.com where condolences may also be sent.
