Sister Monique Levesque (Sr Louis-Marie), ndsc, passed away following a lengthy illness on Tuesday January 28, 2025 at the Motherhouse of the Religieuses de Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Coeur in Moncton. She was 101 years of age and in the 81th year of her religious life. Born in Saint-André du Madawaska, she was the daughter of the late Edmond and Alice (Powers) Levesque.
Besides her religious family, she is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by five sisters: Frances, Isabel, Cécile, Fernande and Carmen; and six brothers: Herby, Laurier, Lucien, Alyre, Bertin and Rodrigue.
Sister Monique will be resting at the Notre-Dame-d’Acadie Pavilion of the Maison-mère des Religieuses Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Coeur, 125 King Street, Moncton (Godfrey Lane entrance) on Sunday February 2 from 2 pm to 8:30 pm, with Solemn Vespers at 7 pm. Visitations will start again on Monday February 3 from 1 pm until the funeral mass. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday February 3 in the Maison-mère chapel at 2 pm. The funeral mass will be streamed live and may be viewed on her obituary at www.frenettefuneralhome.com where condolences may also be sent. Interment will be in Memramcook.
