Edouard "Eddie" Cormier, 98, of Moncton, passed away on Monday December 30, 2024 at The Moncton Hospital. Born in Rogersville, he was the son of the late Jean-Baptiste and Emma (Allain) Cormier.

Prior to his retirement, Eddie had 35 years of service at CN. He was a 3rd degree member of the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce Knights of Columbus and enjoyed playing the fiddle.

He is survived by his wife for of 75 years, Marie-Anne (Arseneault); eight children: Jeannette Thébeau (late Trefflé), Jacques (Dianne) and Eric, all of Moncton, Alice Gallant (Phil) and Paul (Pauletta), both of Dieppe, Roger (Noëlla) of Lakeville, Emma Doiron (Adrien) of Bass River, and Irene Doiron (Roger) of Acadieville; one step-daughter, Rose Léger (Rhéal) of Rosairville; 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Henri (Thérèse) of Rosairville and Léo (late Dorina) of Saint John; one sister-in-law, Alice Arseneault of Rogersville; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one son, Gérald (Gisèle); one infant daughter, Marie-Stella; and six sisters: Edna, Yvonne, Florida, Anise, Emerise and Irene.

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (506-858-1900) on Friday from 7 to 9 pm only. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Notre-Dame-de-Grâce R.C. Church, 858 Mountain Road, Moncton, on Saturday January 4 at 11 am. Interment will be at Our Lady of Calvary cemetery in Dieppe. In memory of Eddie, a contribution to the Alzheimer Society or the Friends of The Moncton Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
