Earl
McDonald, Moncton, age 68, formerly of New Waterford, NS, passed away
on October 30, 2024 at The Moncton Hospital after a brief
illness.

#46506, Earl was employed as a police constable with Saint John Police
Force for 1 year prior to Moncton Police Force for 20 years until
joining the Codiac RCMP in 1998, for 13 years until retiring in 2011
from IPOC Division. Earl was a man of great faith, volunteering for
many years at The Catholic Information Centre. He was a 3rd degree
member of The Knights of Columbus Council 131O. He was an active
police union member and at work his identity unrevealed as "The
Unknown Poet". He loved card games, socializing, telling jokes
and stories of his hometown Cape Breton, where his heart will always
be.
He is
survived by the love of his life for 47 years, Ann Marie (LeBlanc);
sons: Kyle of Moncton, Lorne (April Parker) of Lower Coverdale and
Ryan (Amber) of Red Deer; daughter, Maria (Cotey Cyr) of Moncton; four
grandchildren he loved dearly, cherishing time with them: Alexa,
Miles, Bailey and Cammy; godsons: Jonathan Clements (Jodie) of
Moncton, Mark McQueen (Chelsea) of River Ryan, Jason McQueen of
Alberta; goddaughters: Taryn Stiles (Mike) of Dartmouth, Mary-Ann
Ahlstrom (Joel) of Calgary, Amanda Lachowiez (Rob) of Halifax;
sisters: Donna MacArthur (Francis) of River Ryan, Sheila McNeil and
Rhona Burke (Winston) both of New Waterford, Mary Schrage (Dave
MacLean) of Sydney, Delores Austin of Alberta; sisters-in-law: Maureen
Finlayson of New Waterford, Karen Clements (Amarjit Bedi) of
Dartmouth, Cheryl McDonald of Framboise and Bernice McDonald of New
Waterford; brothers-in-law: Joseph LeBlanc (Karen) of Windsor, ON, and
Gary Clements of Moncton; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins,
and his best friend and crib buddy, Gerry Hache (Jacqueline) of
Dieppe.
Earl was
predeceased by parents, Daniel and Sadie (Maclntyre) McDonald;
brothers: Crosby and Bryan; two infant siblings; in laws, Henry and
Bridget (McEachern) LeBlanc; brother-in-law, Joseph McNeil;
sister-in-law, Yvonne McQueen; nephews: Louis MacArthur and
nephew/son, Michael Clements; great nieces: Stephanie Finlayson and
Barbara Burke.

Kindred Home Care employee, Brian Fontaine, for excellent home care
over the years. Thanks to all Shannex Gordon Hall staff, director
Carol, manager Peggy, Dr. Bandyayera, Roshan, Lisa, Ian, John,
Shelley, and friends too numerous to mention. Your kindness, care and
compassion will never be forgotten; there are no words to express our
gratitude. Thanks to his table mate friends: Paul, Don and
Lee.
By
request, there will be no visitation. The funeral service will be
celebrated at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street,
Moncton (506-858-1900) on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at
1:30 pm. Refreshments to follow at funeral home.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at Parish
Church of St. Leonard, New Waterford on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at
10 am. Interment will be in Mount Carmel
cemetery.
In lieu
of flowers, in memory of Earl, donations may be made to the Heart and
Stroke Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s
choice.
