Ned Chamberland, 84, passed away peacefully at his home on October 13, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Grand Falls, NB, to the late Albertine and Narcisse. Ned lived a life marked by love, kindness, and a profound dedication to uplifting those around him.
Ned is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Barbara, who was his devoted partner and greatest supporter. Together, they built a life filled with joy, adventure, and the warmth of family. He is also survived by his cherished children: Brenda (Mike) and Terry (Cathy); grandchildren: Jason (Lindsay), Jennifer (Colin), and Olivia; and great-grandchildren: Jackson, Keegan, Alistair, Maddison, and Abigail, all of whom will carry forward the love, wisdom, and fond memories he shared with them throughout his life.
Ned came from a large, close-knit family. He is survived by his siblings: Bernadette (late Rodolphe), Greta (late Maurice), Velva (late Gaston), and Burton (late Judy), and several nieces and nephews, with whom he shared a lifetime of memories and an unbreakable bond. He was predeceased by his parents and siblings: Mona (late Walter), Marie-Rose (late Chester), Reginald (late Rita and Rejeanne), Myrella (late Laurent), Martine (late Gilbert), Geraldine (late Richard and Gilbert), Huguette (late Louis), Phena (late Rene), who he now joins in eternal rest. His family always remained central to his life, and the bond they shared was a source of comfort and strength throughout his years.
Ned's presence extended well beyond his immediate family, deeply rooted in his unwavering faith. Guided by his strong religious beliefs, he was known for his generosity and kindness, always extending a helping hand to friends, neighbors, and even strangers, often without a word of recognition. Ned lived his faith daily, embodying the virtues of humility, compassion, and selflessness, as he sought to serve others as an expression of God's love. His warm, welcoming spirit touched many lives, and he will be remembered as a man who gave abundantly, not for worldly praise, but for the glory of God and the love of others.
Ned was also a proud and successful businessman, leading a highly accomplished architecture firm for many years. While he loved being the boss at work, giving directions with confidence and charm, he carried that same leadership into his personal life as well. Never shy about giving directions, Ned enjoyed taking charge with a playful authority that always brought smiles to those around him. His enthusiasm for being in control was paired with warmth and humor, making him a natural and beloved leader in every aspect of his life.
Ned will be remembered for his humility, his heartwarming smile, and the countless memories he created with his loved ones. His legacy of love and laughter will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Mallet, Dr. Remi Leblanc, Dr. Williston, Dr. Savoie and the exceptional care of the extra mural team.
In keeping with Ned’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. Donations can be made to the Canadian Lung Association. Funeral arrangements are in the professional care of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, Moncton (858-1900).
