Sister Suzanne Duval, in religion Sister Marie Claire
Isabelle, f.j., 91, passed away on Sunday August 25, 2024 at Monarch
Hall in Riverview, NB. Born in Trois-Rivières,
QC, she was a member of the Congrégation des Filles de
Jésus for 69 years.
She is survived by her sister-in-law Joanne, two nephews:
Vincent and Alexandre, and by members of her religious family. She was
the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was predeceased by her parents, Gérard Duval
and Cécilia Ouellette, as well as by her sister Louise, and
brother Jean.
From 1955 to 1985, apart from a few years of study and three
years in the West Indies, Suzanne served in Edmonton, Alberta, first
as a supervisor at the boarding school for 12 years, then in pastoral
ministry with the Blackfoot in Brocket for three years, and again with
the Blackfoot in Cluny for four years. This time spent in pastoral
work with the Indigenous peoples was her most rewarding experience,
both in terms of work and community life. She also worked at Renous
and Westmorland penitentiaries in New Brunswick. Despite all her
activities, she managed to find time to put her artistic talents to
good use, creating magnificent paintings and icons.
Visitation will be held at Frenette Funeral and Cremation
