Born in Sainte-Anne de Restigouche, Bonaventure County, QC on September 18, 1927, she was the 10th of 15 children. Daughter of the late Maurice Philippe and the late Clémentine Quessy of l’Alverne, QC. Wife of the late Hervé Léger of Shediac, NB, she is survived by two children, a daughter Lisette Léger (David McWhirter) and a son Richard Léger (Gracia Fontaine), and a grandson Erick Dumont (Kelly Manderville). She was predeceased by three babies: twins Jules and Julie, born in 1961, and a baby boy in 1963.

She is survived by a sister-in-law Gloria Allain (late Donald Léger) and two brothers-in-law Gérard Léger (late Florence Larochelle) and Aurèle Babineau (late Thérèse Léger).

Siblings who predeceased her are Jeanne (late Albert "Pit" Larochelle), Léonard (late Cécile Giroux), Rhéal (late Alexandra Larochelle), Rose Emma "Rosette" (late James St-Onge/late Edward Gough), Juliette (sept-nov. 1919), Gabriel "Gaby" (late Viola Ratté), Marguerite (oct. 1922-jan. 1924), Marguerite (late René Savoie), Martha (late Laurent "Jos" Mailloux), Stella (late Fernand Marquette/late Ronald Bourgeois), Charles (late Simonne Desjardins), Noëlla (late Hervé Nicole), Marielle (late Julien Bourque) and Jules (late Valérie Noel).

Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law no longer with us: late Loretta "Dot" Léger (late Reider "Pete" Peterson), late Aline Léger (late Désiré Savoie), late Valmond Léger (late Yollande Fontaine), Gérard Léger (late Florence Larochelle), late Roger Léger (late Iona Jaillet).

In 1968, Thérèse, Hervé and M. Onézime Turbide founded Turbide et Léger Ltée, where she worked until her retirement. She enjoyed quilting, crossword puzzles, playing cards and bingo to pass the time.

A private funeral service for the family will be held at the Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 396 Main Street, Shediac (506-532-3297). Interment will be in Saint-Antoine Cemetery. In Marie's memory, a donation to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
