It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Richard John Gosse, aged 83, after a valiant battle with Dementia.
Born in Montréal, Québec, to Frederic Sturdee and Margaret (Burke) Gosse, he was a proud native of the Pointe-Saint-Charles neighbourhood.
He initially started his career as a draftsman in Toronto before moving into the field of HVAC as a salesman for Carrier Eastern. In 1975, he took the opportunity to further his sales career with Carrier Eastern and moved his family to Moncton. Ultimately, he culminated his skills into a successful sales career with Honeywell.
If you knew Richard, you knew he was passionate about sports and loved nothing more than to engage in lively, analytical, and insightful conversations about baseball, hockey, or football. He spent many years sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm with the younger generation as a beloved assistant coach for the Moncton minor hockey and baseball leagues. He took great pride in helping the kids learn to play the sports he loved.
Richard was also a talented painter, writer, and a self-taught guitar and harmonica player. He was a man whose interests were vast, slightly quirky, and definitely unique. He had a warm charm, quick wit, and a great sense of humour; which is exactly what everyone would talk about when he left a room.
True to his nature, he successfully beguiled the RNs, LPNs, PSWs, and the Service Staff at Pavillon Landry of Faubourg du Mascaret Nursing Home. There, he found meaningful, loving relationships, and a quality of life well deserved. A very heartfelt thank you to everyone at Pavillon Landry for their dedication, support, and love for Richard.
He is survived by his daughter, Holly Gosse; his two grandsons: Liam and Quinlan Gosse; brother, Brian (Carol); nephew, Brian; and nieces: Leigh, Jennifer, Lindsay, and Kathryn. He will also be missed by his extended family and friends!
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved step-father, Hubert Sheeran; his eldest daughter, Kerry-Ellen Melanie Gosse; as well as his sister and brother-in-law, Donna (Gosse) and Ross Francis.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no visitation and no funeral service at the funeral home. In memory of Richard, donations to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or Alzheimer Society would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements are in the professional care of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, Moncton (506-858-1900).
