Norbert Basque, 69, of Moncton, passed away on Friday June
14, 2024 at The Moncton Hospital. Born in Tracadie, he was the son of
the late Sylvain and Imelda (Rousselle) Basque.
Smiling, warm, positive and remarkably kind, Norbert was a
great sports fan, especially of the Toronto Maple Leafs. He enjoyed
playing cards with friends and family, who were of the utmost
importance to him. Norbert worked at Sobeys prior to his
retirement.
He is survived by one son, Jonathan Doiron of Moncton; two
grandsons: Elijah and Ethan; seven sisters: Germaine Melanson (late
Gérald) and Anne Basque, both of Moncton, Sylvia Robichaud
(late Emile), Stella MacDonald (late Ralph) and Jeanneda Saulnier
(late Jean-Guy), all of Dieppe, Sr Alphonsine Basque, fma of
Montréal, QC, and Laudia Allain (Aldoria) of Neguac; two
brothers: Gilbert (Claudia) of Riverview, and Euclide (Marie-Anna) of
Fair Isle; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by five sisters:
Lumina, Emma, and Célina, as well as infants Eva and Clara;
and two brothers: Freddy and infant Olivier.
Special thanks to all the doctors, nurses and support staff
at The Moncton Hospital for the excellent care they provided to
Norbert and his family.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and
Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (506-858-1900) Sunday from
2 to 4 pm only. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Saint-Augustin
Church, 1933, Route 450, Lagacéville, on Tuesday June 18 at
11 am. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. In memory of Norbert,
a contribution to a charity of the donor’s choice would be
appreciated.
